Aaron Scharf - Art and Photography [Book]

22 February 2008

This book is more of an historical study than a manual of techniques. It introduces photography from its early beginnings and then shows how it develops both as a threat to painting, and as an aid to painting. Major figures in both art and photography are covered and the mutual influences explained. By the end of the book the distinction between art and photography is so blurred that it is difficult to see either without acknowledging its effect on the other. An excellent book for understanding how the two media developed and effected each other, but very little on practical technique for the beginner.

In this section I will be putting news worthy stories concerning photography.

I will also be chronicling my rediscovery of photography and what I'm working on at the moment.

This is also where I will let people know of any competitions I hear or read about.

If anybody wins any of them please let me know.
